The Portrait Society | Giovanni Antonio Burrini
Giovanni Antonio Burrini was a painter of the Italian late Baroque and Rococo. He began his training in his home town of Bologna and finished it in Rome. However, Venetian Renaissance painting had the greatest influence on his work. In addition to panel paintings, he created numerous frescoes for patrician palaces and churches in Bologna. Burrini taught one of his daughters, Barbara, the craft of painting. Nowadays, his paintings are displayed mainly in museums in Emilia-Romagna, while his drawings can be found in museums throughout Europe and North America.
